Today, I
ask for help with my addiction.
Denial has
kept me from seeing how powerless I am
and how my life is unmanageable.
I need to
learn and remember
that I have an incurable
illness and that stopping is
the only way to deal
with it !

(In any society, children
are the most dependent members. They have no inherent
power for self-protection. - no means to ensure
that their lives will be safe, comfortable, or fulfilling.
Little children are singularly reliant on the love,
care, and nurture of others for their most basic
needs. They must cry out even though they may not
know exactly what they need. They must trust their
lives to someone who is more powerful than they,
and, hopefully, they will be heard and lovingly
cared for)

(The picture here contrasts
a precious treasure and the simple container in
which the treasure is stored. The living power poured
into our life from above is the treasure. Our human
body, with all its flaws and weakness, is the perishable
container. As human beings, we are imperfect)

(Once we recognize the paradox
of powerlessness, we can be quite relieved. We don't
have to always be strong or pretend to be perfect.
We can live a real life, with its daily struggles,
in a human body beset with weakness and still find
the power from above to keep going without being
crushed and broken)

One day at a time - this is enough
Do not look
back and grieve over the past, for it is gone.
And do not
be troubled about the future, for it has not yet
come.
Live in the
present, and make it so beautiful that
it will be
worth remembering !
